Junior Legal Administrative Assistant​/Receptionist

Established in 1937, Baker Newby is one of the largest law firms in the Fraser Valley with offices in Chilliwack and Abbotsford. We currently have an immediate opening for a Junior Legal Administrative Assistant in our Abbotsford office. This position could be suitable for Practicum Students or newly graduated Legal Administrative Assistants with other relevant office or administrative experience.

The broad initial scope of duties includes, but are not limited to:

• Initial filing opening, and closing upon its completion
• Standard supporting ad ministrative processes such as physical filing, scanning and digital filing, saving and organizing digital file materials, photocopying, and document/binder as sembly
• Reception coverage as required , answering the phone and greeting clients/service providers while our full – time Reception ist is absent or attending to other daily matters. This coverage role will be shared amongst other junior legal as sistants as well.

This position presents an encouraging environment for newly graduated legal assistants, joining an established and well-supported branch of our commercial litigation department of 1 paralegal and 2 senior assistants. The successful candidate will be mature, have meticulous attention to detail, the ability to work in a team-oriented environment, and possess very strong computer skills as we work in an ever-increasing paperless practice.

The successful candidate will also already recognize that law is a fast-deadline driven, high-responsibility and demanding practice. We seek candidates with a strong work ethic who thrive under pressure.

compensation: $24 – $26 per hour but wholly commensurate with maturity and related experience + Group RRSP Matching Program
