Co‑op Estimator to support accurate and timely cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for projects. Co‑op opportunities vary in length: 8, 12 or 16 month work terms.
What You Will Do Here- Analyze documents, specifications, proposals, addendums in preparation for pricing.
- Assist with RFPs and General Contract tender submissions.
- Support team in preparing quantity take‑offs from construction drawings where applicable.
- Research and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to incorporate into project estimates.
- Assist with prequalification submissions, RFQs and RFIs as required.
- Aid in estimate creation for bid submission – labour, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts.
- Attend site visits in advance of estimate creation.
- Ensure the distribution of documentation appropriately upon award.
- Collect data for reports on established business key performance indicators.
- Support the maintenance of files and correspondence on active and completed projects.
- Provide technical support to field staff when needed.
- Coordinate scope changes as required.
- Incorporate and comply with Aecon’s risk management policies and procedures.
- Maintain estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
- Enrolled in Civil, Construction, Electrical or Business Diploma or Degree Program.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
- Knowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, bonding, etc.
- Knowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting/reporting principles an asset.
- Self‑motivated with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills – MS Excel, Word, Project and estimating software.
- Excellent communication skills – oral and written.
- Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
- Capability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
The expected hourly rate for this position is $20–$25/hr individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience and unique skills.
