Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Health and Safety Advisor. In this position you will primarily be involved in supporting key safety initiatives and programs owned and managed by the EHS Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing H&S programs, policies, practices and standards to keep people safe and ensure company facilities are operated in accordance with H&S regulations and company standards. The role requires working with operational staff and subject matter specialists to solving safety-related issues at various Trans Mountain sites. The position serves as the H&S “Point of Contact” for Burnaby/Sumas & Puget regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote H&S awareness and commitment by building on existing culture and program strengths. Connect with the workforce to communicate the importance of Safety and promote corporate H&S objectives, policies, and procedures. Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe working environment by actively overseeing and supporting the safe execution of work.
  • Network with other health and safety team members across Trans Mountain and actively participates in EHS Department collaboration meetings, projects and Department initiatives. Actively participate and serve as key support role on the EHS Reps Committee.
  • Assist and drive the implementation of a zero-injury culture and operational excellence, including promoting and fostering safety programs. Ensuring all employees and contractors are properly trained and equipped to perform work safely and conduct focused inspections to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Provide safety support, as needed, to local operations, field engineering, and/or work performed by contractors. Participate in pre-job planning, Job Hazard Assessments and assist with the implementation of safety control measures. Provide technical safety expertise to managers, supervisors and employees to ensure safety programs are adequately implemented and executed at the field level.
