Turn your love of the outdoors and physical work into an exciting job opportunity all while making a difference in your community. The City of Abbotsford’s Operations Department is in search of self-motivated, enthusiastic individuals to join their dynamic team as Operations Labourers.
The Operations Labourer supports a variety of divisions in the Operations Department, including but not limited to Parks, Roads, Facilities, Water, and Sewer. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with a wide range of general construction, maintenance and custodial tasks, as well as performing mowing, line trimming, pruning and weed‑removal tasks. The duties may involve challenging working conditions and changes of assignment with minimal notice based on operational needs.
You thrive in a fast-paced environment with the ability to take initiative to get the job done. You must be able to work effectively in a team setting and individually.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Completion of Grade 10
- One years’ experience in general construction or maintenance work and in the operation of related tools, equipment and machinery, or demonstrated equivalent of training and relevant experience
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence with a safe driving record
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is $31.19, plus an additional 12.4% in lieu of all benefits including vacation and Statutory Holiday pay.
