Carpenter, Manufacturing ​/ Production

As a carpenter, you will be responsible for fabricating all components of timber structures. This includes working with mass timber products such as glue-laminated beams, laminated veneer lumber, and dowel-laminated timber, as well as steel connectors, cables, and castings. You will also handle integrated structural panels complete with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that are pre-installed in the shop.

• Read blueprints for beam layout.
• Perform steel fitting and sanding.
• Execute precision finishing.
• Operate power and air tools such as hand drills, skill saws, and sanders.
• Package glulams and panels.
• Assist in clean-up activities.
• Provide on-site support for roof panel preparation, flying, landing, and stitching.

• 5+ years of carpentry experience, including a mix of framing, cabinet building, and finishing.
• Completion of 3rd-year carpentry schooling.
• Proficiency in using tools like drills, skill saws, table saws, hammers, and measuring tapes.
• Ability to measure in both Imperial and Metric units.
• Capability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience in rough carpentry, wood cutting, and finishing.

• Red Seal certification is an asset.
• Experience in manufacturing carpentry and mass timber.
• Familiarity with sawmill operations or wood planing machines.
• Willingness to learn and adapt.
• Good attitude, reliability, and punctuality.

Work in a dynamic environment on the north side of the shop, where skilled work is performed. You will use specialty carpentry tools, with training provided as needed. The facility includes a wood fabrication shop that produces wood panels for various industries. The workspace is mostly indoors in a well-ventilated wood production facility, with less than 10% of work done outside gathering materials or packaging.

The open production floor houses about 50 employees, with operations running Monday to Thursday from 6 am to 4:30 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abbotsford, BC.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr.
