Position SummaryWe are seeking a motivated and dependable Machine Operator to join our production team in a fast‑paced plastics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining production equipment while ensuring product quality, safety, and efficiency standards are consistently met.
Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Setup & Operation:
- Set up and calibrate machinery (speed, feed, temperature) according to work orders and specifications.
- Load, measure, and feed raw materials or components into production equipment.
- Operate semi‑automated and manual machinery, including power tools and fabrication equipment.
- Monitor machines during operation to ensure smooth and efficient production.
Quality Assurance:
- Inspect finished products using measuring tools.
- Verify products meet specifications and quality standards.
- Identify defects and stop production as needed to troubleshoot or correct issues.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance (cleaning, lubricating, basic part replacement).
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues.
- Report major equipment concerns to maintenance or supervisors promptly.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all health and safety procedures and wear required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work environment.
- Report safety issues, incidents, or near misses immediately.
Production & Team Coordination:
- Maintain accurate production records (output, downtime, quality issues).
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily production goals.
- Assist in training new or junior operators as required.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
- Experience using power tools (routers, saws, jig saws, band saws, hydraulic presses).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and team‑oriented.
- Previous manufacturing, fabrication, or plastics experience is an asset.
- Forklift certification (recertification available on‑site).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Prolonged standing for most of the shift.
- Repetitive tasks (e.g., gluing, grinding, sanding).
- Frequent bending and twisting.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals.
- Some outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 6am – 2:30pm.
- Wage: $21.00 – $24.00 per hour (based on experience).
