As a Scale Operator at the Abbotsford Mission Recycling Depot, you will be responsible for accurately weighing inbound and outbound materials, assisting customers, and supporting safe and efficient depot operations. This role combines hands‑on work with customer service and administrative tasks to ensure the facility operates smoothly and effectively.
Position Description- Greet drivers and customers, directing them to the appropriate loading dock or tipping area.
- Accurately weigh inbound and outbound materials and record data as required.
- Enter all purchase and sale tickets accurately into the computerized scale system.
- Inspect recyclable materials to ensure they are safe and free of banned items.
- Coordinate with internal and external customers to manage receiving and shipping schedules, ensuring all documentation is accurate.
- Communicate effectively and professionally via email and telephone.
- Ensure that customers and employees follow safety protocols and wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Grade 12 diploma or GED equivalency.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Previous experience operating a scale is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
- Experience in the waste management or recycling industry preferred.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Availability for overtime as needed.
