Supervisor
Lookout Housing and Health Society is a charitable organization that provides housing and a range of support services to adults with low or no income who have few or no housing or support options. We believe that helping people help themselves is essential in addressing homelessness and the related challenges.
Location:
Abbotsford, BC, Canada
Salary: $35.76 - $37.75 per hour (depending on seniority)
Schedule:
Tuesday through Saturday, 23:00–07:00, 7.5 hours per shift. Days of rest are consecutive. Schedule may change with two weeks’ notice.
Employment:
Permanent full-time. Probationary period of 488 hours with mid and end‑point reviews.
The Supervisor reports to the Site Manager and supports the daily operations of the site residence. Responsibilities include supervising staff, ensuring program mandate compliance, providing support, education, and skill development to residents, and maintaining accurate records.
Job Duties- Supervise daily operations and adhere to society policies and procedures.
- Ensure service engagement, case planning, management, and discharge planning are consistent with mandate.
- Perform tasks associated with engagement of tenants and service delivery.
- Complete required records and maintain statistical data.
- Participate in tenant intake, service support, assessment, service plans, crisis intervention and administer medication and finances.
- Limited external work; use of a vehicle may be useful at times.
- Employees are expected to remain alert and attentive during working hours; sleeping during shifts is not permitted.
- Responsible for complying with and contributing to all aspects of the health and safety program.
- Post‑secondary education equivalent to two (2) years study plus two (2) years of recent related experience or equivalent combination, including one (1) year supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with community resources, particularly addiction, mental health, welfare and harm reduction.
- Must have current OFA 1 First Aid Certificate.
- Crisis Intervention Skills Training is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and in a supervisory role; good judgement, tact and discretion.
- Strong ability to manage stress and organize high workload demands.
- Excellent communication, writing, documentation and organizational skills.
- Understands and maintains client/worker boundaries.
- Ability to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environment.
- Strong physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job related equipment.
- A minimum of two (2) years sobriety if you have had concerns related to alcohol and/or drug use.
- Criminal Record Clearance – vulnerable sector.
