The Family Preservation Counsellor position focuses on preventing child removal by providing in-home support and family education. You’ll work closely with Indigenous children and families, integrating cultural awareness and effective parenting techniques into your practice. The role allows you to make a meaningful impact while promoting self-sufficiency and community connectivity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver community-based family preservation treatment
• Conduct and prepare family therapy sessions
• Perform crisis interventions when needed
• Aid families in improving home supervision
• Encourage connections to cultural and community resources
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in human services or related fields
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Indigenous settings
• Knowledge of Child, Family & Community Services Act
• Competence in engagement and conflict resolution
• BC Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transport required
