An established North West Design & Build contractor specialising in commercial and industrial projects, retail and leisure, public sector works, refurbishment and specialist fit-out is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a major project in Deeside.

The business combines design, manufacture and construction, with specialist in-house capabilities including bespoke joinery and fit-out. Its current project at Shotton Mill is a major architectural package incorporating drylining, ceilings, screeds, floor finishes, fire-rated panelling and more than 400 doorsets.

As Quantity Surveyor
, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of a major live construction project, working closely with the Project Manager, site team, subcontractors, suppliers and wider commercial function.

This is a full-time, site-based position at Shotton Mill, Deeside
, offering the opportunity to work on a major CAT A & B / architectural fit-out project.

The company is particularly interested in candidates based around Liverpool, Chester, Deeside and the surrounding areas
, making the site a realistic daily commute.

• Take responsibility for the commercial management of the project from procurement through to final account.

• Manage project costs, budgets and financial performance.

• Prepare and maintain accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).

• Monitor project expenditure against budgets and forecasts.

• Prepare monthly cost and commercial reports.

• Undertake measurement and valuation of completed works.

• Prepare interim valuations and payment applications.

• Review and assess subcontractor and supplier applications.

• Procure and manage subcontract and supplier packages.

• Obtain and negotiate competitive quotations.

• Prepare and manage subcontract documentation.

• Manage variations, change control and commercial instructions.

• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.

• Assist with contractual correspondence and contract administration.

• Monitor project progress and its impact on commercial performance.

• Work closely with the Project Manager and site team to ensure commercial and operational objectives are aligned.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.

• Assist with dispute resolution and commercial issues where required.

• Manage the commercial close-out and final accounts.

• Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure company procedures are followed.

• Support and mentor more junior members of the commercial team where required.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, fit-out, refurbishment or interiors
  .

• Ideally 2+ years' experience operating at QS level.

• Experience managing the commercial side of live construction projects.

• Strong knowledge of procurement, subcontract management, valuations, variations, CVRs and final accounts.

• Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.

• Experience working from drawings, specifications and construction documentation.

• Strong numerical and analytical ability.

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and commercial software.

• Experience with
  Evaluate and/or Procore would be advantageous.

• A relevant Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.

• The ability to work full time on site at Shotton Mill.
