Our client, a specialist manufacturer, is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Junior Buyer / Procurement Officer to join their procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong administrator with proven experience in the manufacturing sector who is looking to develop a career in purchasing and supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the procurement team in sourcing materials, components, and services in line with production requirements

* Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely processing

* Maintain supplier records, pricing data, and procurement documentation

* Monitor stock levels and liaise with production and planning teams to ensure continuity of supply

* Track orders and deliveries, resolving any delays or discrepancies with suppliers

* Assist in supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives

* Ensure compliance with internal procurement procedures and quality standards

* Generate reports on purchasing activity, spend, and supplier performance

* Provide general administrative support to the procurement function

Requirements

* Mandatory:
Previous administrative experience within a manufacturing environment

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build supplier relationships and either demonstrate or develop effective negotiation skills

* Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and experience using ERP/MRP systems

* Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail

* Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment

* Commercial awareness and an interest in procurement or supply chain

* Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn

Desirable

* Exposure to purchasing or supply chain functions

* Understanding of inventory management principles

* Relevant qualifications (e.g. CIPS or working towards)

39 hours:
Monday to Thursday 7.45am – 4.30pm Friday 7.45am – 1pm
