Job Title: Temp-to-Hire Accountant – Banking

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join a dynamic banking team in Aberdeen, MD. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity for a career-minded professional who takes initiative and delivers results. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, a degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience), and a passion for accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as AP backup and provide oversight and approvals
  • Perform general ledger (GL) reconciliations and maintain accuracy
  • Manage banking operations and reporting (banking experience strongly preferred)
  • Prepare call reports and assist with SEC reporting requirements
  • Maintain investment portfolio and fixed assets
  • Handle property tax assessments and FHLB-related tasks
  • Support month‑end and year‑end close processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience or strong internships with proven initiative
  • Solid understanding of GL, reconciliations, and banking operations
  • Familiarity with SEC reporting and call reports preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
