Position Summary

A Laborer is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations at a construction site. Duties include loading and unloading tools or raw materials, assembling scaffolding or other pieces of equipment, and digging or filling pits throughout the construction process.

Essential Functions Of The Job

  • Variety of physical labor tasks including, but not limited to, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, clearing rubble or debris, etc.
  • Measuring distances from grade stakes, driving stakes, and stretching tight line.
  • Bolting, nailing, aligning, and blocking up under forms.
  • Mixing, smoothing, and finishing concrete.
  • Erecting scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
  • Grinding, sanding, or polishing surfaces.
  • Performing general site clean‑up.
  • Unloading and sorting construction deliveries.
  • Working scheduled hours as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assisting with other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years' construction industry experience preferred.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Compliance with all OSHA and MSHA regulations.
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.

Physical Requirements And Working Environment

  • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety (hard‑toe) shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and coveralls.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb, balance, twist, pull, push, and have hand/finger dexterity and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.
  • Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in various weather conditions.
  • Vision abilities (with or without correction) include near, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Sensory ability to talk, hear, smell, touch, and feel.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, etc.
  • Must be able to exert up to 10‑20 lbs. constantly to move objects; 25‑50 lbs. of force frequently; 50‑100 lbs. of force occasionally.
