Critical Facility Manager of Engineering

Base pay range: $/yr – $/yr

Location: Ellendale, ND (on-site position with relocation assistance available)

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Critical Facilities Manager of Engineering to drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights, ensuring 100% uptime and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Command a critical infrastructure subject‑matter‑expert presence and display command and control of critical facility operations.
  • Provide direct on‑site coordination, supervision, and project‑management support for data center critical facility operations.
  • Accept direct accountability for management and operations of preventative‑maintenance programs and life‑cycle management of critical facility assets.
  • Implement Salute Data Center Operations Playbook and secure 100% site adoption by all data center engineers, technicians, and suppliers.
  • Track critical facility metrics and KPIs, delivering reports to the Site Director and reporting anomalies immediately.
  • Manage preventative‑maintenance schedules, corrective maintenance actions, and break‑fix incident response for all critical facility systems.
  • Identify critical spare‑parts inventory needs and track on‑hand supply and usage via the CMMS platform.
  • Ensure vendors adhere to The Playbook, Critical Facility Work Rules, and all EH&S policies.
  • Supervise and manage critical facility engineers, data center technicians, and suppliers.
  • Assign staff appropriately to maintain proper coverage of operational requirements.
  • Oversee professional development, certifications, and license retention of all critical facility personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, develop improvement plans, and enforce disciplinary actions, including termination and annual reviews.
Additional Accountabilities
  • Lead by example and actively promote ongoing professional development within the operations team.
  • Achieve 100% completion of mandated Talent LMS training courses.
  • Adhere to Salute culture and best practices at all times.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, with two years of technical education focused on mission‑critical operations, industrial manufacturing, or relevant military experience in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Progressive, hands‑on experience in critical data center operations, maintenance, and engineering in complex facility environments.
  • Prior experience as a Critical Facilities Lead Engineer, ACFM, or equivalent leadership role.
  • Experience supervising O&M of large, complex data center operations.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of HVAC, standby emergency power, UPS, and associated infrastructure.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs.
  • Stand for extended periods in various work environments.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment tasks.
  • Maintain basic physical fitness for rapid emergency response.
  • Move quickly and efficiently within various environments to troubleshoot or respond to emergencies.
  • Possess good hand‑eye coordination and dexterity for small components.
  • Have clear vision, with or without correction, and wear safety glasses as required.
  • Differentiation between color‑coded warning signs, labels, and cables.
  • Work in environments with wide temperature ranges inside the facility.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow.
  • Tolerate elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license for work‑related travel, as required.
