Number two leadership position within the Harvest Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Supervise, coordinate and/or schedule the activities of all department supervisors.
- Analyze production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing motivational plans.
- Record information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports.
- Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.
- Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Guide, direct, motivate and set performance standards and monitor performance.
- Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Coach, mentor, or help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts.
- Ensure Harvest supervisors run their areas productively and efficiently.
- Make sure employees perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure the quality of all work product.
- Engage with all other departments efficiently, including Maintenance, FSQA and HR.
- Work with the Quality Control/USDA department to ensure product quality and food safety requirements are met.
- Act as a liaison between plant management and Harvest supervisors.
- Ensure all supervisors follow plant safety, quality and attendance procedures.
- Attend and provide input at daily supervisor meetings within the Harvest area.
- Minimize downtime.
- Inspect areas frequently to ensure supervisors perform their work properly and maintain positive employee morale.
- Work on various special projects in the Harvest area.
- Ensure the Harvest area reaches daily standards and make procedural corrections if necessary.
- Complete annual evaluations on all Harvest supervisors.
- Be directly involved in corrective action procedures with supervisors, ranging from verbal warnings to terminations.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a beef processing plant.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, & communication skills.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.
- Must be 18 years of age and authorized to work in the US.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and random drug test to be eligible for employment.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in a diverse workforce and with upper-level management.
- Microsoft Office skills:
PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping, as needed.
- Ability to work 8-12+ hours a day in a hot environment.
- Constant movement.
- Rare office work.
