Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cost Controller to join our Scotland Energy Delivery Unit, supporting the delivery of our major offshore energy programme.

Join our Energy team as a Cost Controller on the ASTI Project, based in Peterhead, and you’ll play an important role in supporting the successful financial delivery of complex infrastructure work that really matters to our business, our customers and the communities we serve.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major infrastructure programme where effective risk management will be fundamental to successful project delivery.

As a Cost Controller
, you will be responsible for:

• Assisting the project team with cost queries and obtaining appropriate back-up and validation for costs.
• Supporting the Commercial function by ensuring costs are correctly allocated and producing weekly cost reports.
• Carrying out variance analysis of actual versus forecast costs.
• Monitoring and tracking project costs to support effective financial control.
• Supporting the commercial team and wider project team with additional financial and cost-control activities.
• Liaising with external suppliers and contractors.
• Working with client stakeholders to support monthly and quarterly audits, including providing cost samples and supporting information for validation.
• Supporting the Finance Manager and Commercial Lead with ad-hoc analysis and reporting.
• Supporting the link between Commercial project reporting and Financial project reporting,

• Highly motivated, proactive and practical in their approach.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment and delivering within agreed timescales.
• Able to thrive in a busy environment and enjoys taking on new challenges.
• An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
• Highly organised and confident working on their own initiative.
• Able to review and prioritise tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experienced in using Oracle R12 or a similar accounting/project finance system would be advantageous, although this is not essential.
• Keen to develop their understanding of project cost control and the relationship between Commercial and Financial reporting.

The ASTI programme represents a major period of investment in Scotland's electricity transmission infrastructure and provides the opportunity to build a long-term career working on complex, nationally significant engineering projects.
