The client is seeking a high-performing Business Development Manager to drive sustainable growth across our tools and equipment rental operations in Aberdeen and the wider UK region for their client.
This is a pivotal commercial role responsible for expanding our customer base, securing long-term agreements, and delivering revenue growth. You will lead the development and execution of strategic sales initiatives while ensuring we remain competitive, innovative, and aligned with customer needs in key sectors such as oil and gas, renewables, and construction.
Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you will play a critical role in shaping our market presence and strengthening our position as a trusted rental partner.
Key Responsibilities Business Growth & Strategy- Develop and execute a rolling business development strategy aligned with company goals
- Identify and secure new business opportunities and long-term contracts
- Consistently achieve and exceed sales and revenue targets set by the business
- Monitor rental market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities across the UK
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships
- Act as a key point of contact for major customer accounts
- Understand customer needs and deliver value‑driven solutions
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery that aligns with SES standards
- Lead and develop the sales function, driving performance and accountability
- Manage the full sales lifecycle from strategy through to close
- Support tendering (ITT), bidding, and pricing strategies
- Deliver accurate sales forecasts, reports, and performance insights to senior management
- Oversee communications and social media strategy to enhance brand visibility
- Support initiatives that strengthen market positioning and customer engagement
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between sales, operations, and service delivery
- Support onboarding of new clients in line with company systems and processes
- Experience in sales or business development
- Experience in the tools, plant, or equipment hire industry (highly desirable)
- Proven track record of winning new business in new sectors and exceeding sales targets
- Strong ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales strategies for tool and equipment rental businesses
- Ability to self‑manage, prioritise, and work autonomously
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Experience managing or mentoring sales teams or personnel
- Skilled in Salesforce and CSP platforms
- Willingness to travel up to 80% across the UK, sometimes at short notice
- Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related discipline (desirable)
- Experience in leading tender submissions including pricing and bidding for contracts up to £5M
- Experience in leading commercial negotiations with major UK clients
- Experience covering multi‑site and regional UK sales territories
