The Netherton Hub is a major new energy infrastructure development located near Peterhead in Aberdeenshire, forming a key part of SSEN Transmission's multi-billion-pound Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) programme and its wider Pathway to 2030 upgrade of the Scottish transmission network.

Designed to strengthen the UK's ability to transport renewable electricity from the north of Scotland to high-demand centres nationwide, the hub will incorporate a new High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converter station, a 400 kV substation, a 132 kV substation, and associated operational facilities. Once complete, it will enable efficient long-distance transmission of offshore and onshore renewable energy, supporting both UK and Scottish Government net-zero targets while delivering significant economic benefits, job creation, and local supply-chain opportunities.

• Lead engagement with the supply chain and supervisors.
• Ensure RAMS, procedures, safe systems of work and project controls are in place.
• Support mobilisation, pre-starts and competency checks.
• Maintain compliance with Balfour Beatty policies and procedures.
• Promote sustainability targets and Zero Harm culture.
• Manage controls for high-risk activities and lead incident investigations where needed.

• Lead operational teams and coordinate daily site briefings.
• Manage programme delivery, sequencing and short-term planning.
• Integrate planning and site teams to improve communication and progress tracking.
• Maintain accurate site records and reporting.
• Drive productivity, performance and recovery planning when delivery falls behind target.
• Promote one-project thinking across Balfour Beatty, JV partners and supply chain teams.

• Lead resource and logistics planning.
• Manage site access, plant utilisation, lifting, deliveries and material movements.
• Oversee site set-up, mobilisation and operational readiness.
• Produce and implement phasing plans that account for logistical constraints and opportunities.

• Maintain project quality standards and documentation.
• Ensure work is delivered in line with design, specification, employer requirements and statutory standards.
• Use lessons learned, digital tools, 3D modelling and Modern Methods of Construction to improve delivery.
• Resolve technical, construction and buildability issues.

• Understand supply chain scope, contracts and commercial drivers.
• Ensure construction decisions reflect contractual and commercial requirements.
• Support the commercial team with change, variations, compensation events and entitlement.
• Track productivity and performance to reduce cost and programme impact.

• Strong communication, planning and organisation skills.
• Effective leadership and ability to manage operational teams.
• Ability to improve safety and sustainability performance.
• Confident in negotiation, conflict resolution and stakeholder management.

• Experience leading and developing multi-disciplinary construction teams.
• Previous construction management experience in the relevant industry.
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, work packages and timelines.
• Experience working with regulatory bodies and ensuring compliance.
• Advanced construction site safety management experience.
• Awareness of contract negotiation with subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
• Experience resolving project challenges and conflicts.
• Experience in value engineering, cost-saving initiatives, quality management and sustainability.
