The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial and contractual management of projects within our Power Division.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for cost control, valuations, subcontractor management and maintaining robust commercial processes across key frameworks. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate reporting, effective cost management and adherence to commercial best practice.
Key Responsibilities Commercial Management & Cost Control- Drive the commercial performance of allocated projects.
- Compile and manage Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Ensure accurate cost capture and cost-to-complete forecasting.
- Monitor budgets and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Provide expert commercial guidance to the Executive Team through risk and opportunity management and project modelling.
- Prepare and submit client applications and valuations.
- Ensure completed works are accurately recorded and invoiced.
- Support billing processes and reduce Work in Progress (WIP).
- Track certifications and payments in line with contractual requirements.
- Procure and administer subcontractor packages.
- Ensure subcontract terms align with main contract obligations.
- Manage subcontractor payments, variations and final accounts.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and cost exposure.
- Manage and provide advice on Compensation Events and Variations in accordance with NEC and other contract forms.
- Maintain accurate change records and supporting documentation.
- Identify and notify risks and changes at an early stage.
- Provide contractual support and advice to operational teams.
- Assist in managing WIP and ensuring works are valued promptly.
- Support cash collection activities and reduce aged debt.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and audit trails.
- Contribute to month-end commercial reporting.
- Develop strong working relationships with operational teams and clients.
- Participate in commercial meetings and project reviews.
- Provide timely and accurate commercial information to stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with the wider commercial team.
- Promote consistency and best practice across commercial activities.
- Continue developing commercial and contractual knowledge through ongoing learning and team development initiatives.
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the utilities, construction or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and commercial processes.
- Experience preparing CVRs, forecasting and managing subcontractor accounts.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working on UK DNO frameworks.
- Experience with in power or multi-utility environments.
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
- Working towards, or holding, professional membership such as RICS.
