Managing Quantity Surveyor

We’re looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business based in Aberdeen. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the commercial delivery of major electricity infrastructure projects across Scotland, helping to shape the future of the UK's energy network.

We’re looking for a commercially driven leader who enjoys working closely with operational teams, building strong stakeholder relationships, and supporting the successful delivery of complex projects.

• Leading the commercial management of major transmission and substation projects.
• Managing project costs, budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Producing and reviewing CVRs, cash flow forecasts, and project performance reports.
• Identifying, managing, and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities.
• Supporting contract negotiations and commercial strategies.
• Procuring and managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Administering NEC contracts and ensuring contractual compliance.
• Managing change control, compensation events, and commercial recovery opportunities.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, project teams, and key stakeholders.
• Supporting value engineering initiatives and driving commercial efficiencies.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
• Ensuring robust commercial governance and compliance with Balfour Beatty processes.

We are keen to hear from commercially focused professionals who have experience delivering large-scale infrastructure, utilities, power, energy, civil engineering, or construction projects.

• Experience operating as a Managing Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or Commercial Manager on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 forms of contract.
• Proven experience managing project costs and commercial performance.
• Experience leading commercial teams and developing talent.
• Strong understanding of subcontract procurement and supply chain management.
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Experience managing risk, opportunity, change control, and financial reporting.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
• Membership of, or working towards, RICS, ICES, CIOB, or a similar professional body.
