Business Reporter

Responsibilities:

• Produce and write articles on financial news, features, GBA Focus, GBA Newsletter, and other content for the newspaper, website, and new media platforms.
• Produce and edit video products for financial news; manage new media channels of Hong Kong financial news.
• Collect, analyse, and present news events across multiple platforms through interviews and investigations.
• Follow China Daily editorial style and formatting guidelines, supply and review copies, and correct errors in content.
• Line up interviews, conduct research, and analyse background information to provide complete, accurate accounts of news events.
• Pitch story ideas to editors and keep the desk updated on progress.
• Work on special projects and other assignments as required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism, media communication, or related disciplines from a reputable university.
• Familiar with the public affairs and economy of Hong Kong and Mainland China.
• Proficiency in video editing.
• Skilled in new‑media platform promotion, including social media algorithms, audience‑growth tactics, and analytics tools.
• Preference for candidates with a demonstrable track record in new‑media account management.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Strong reporting and writing skills with a keen news sense and the ability to turn stories around quickly.
• Detail‑oriented, responsible, able to work independently and under pressure.
• Outgoing, energetic personality with good interpersonal skills.
