Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Consultant Orthodontist based at Aberdeen Dental Hospital and Institute of Dentistry. The position is full time 40 hours per week, although part time working will be considered.
This is a replacement post within the Orthodontic department. There are well established multi‑disciplinary clinics held on a weekly basis with colleagues from the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative Dentistry Services. The service also provides orthodontic input for the regional Cleft Lip and Palate service which is part of the National Managed Clinical Network (Cleft Care Scotland).
Responsibilities- Provide orthodontic care within the Orthodontic department.
- Participate in multi‑disciplinary clinics with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative Dentistry Services.
- Give orthodontic input for the regional Cleft Lip and Palate service.
- Fully registered with the General Dental Council and on the Specialist Register for Orthodontics.
- Obtained the ISFE in Orthodontics or be within 6 months of attainment at the time of interview for the post.
As from 1/4/26 the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. There will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so pay will not be affected.
