An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Grampian for two whole‑time equivalent Consultant Urological Surgeons to join our existing team of eleven Consultants at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The Urology Department within NHS Grampian is a progressive and welcoming team based in a major university teaching hospital and with strong links to the academic department within Aberdeen University. The department provides regional major pelvic cancer, robotic and stone services to the north of Scotland as well as core Urology to the population of NHS Grampian.

The team has consistently led the way on the development of treatment options for patients across the north of Scotland and has introduced robotic surgery, a fixed‑site lithotripsy service and HOLEP.

• Demonstrate wide knowledge and experience in all major branches of Urology, including core Urology, to support the working of the existing team.
• Lead the development of the service across Grampian and the North of Scotland in a forward‑thinking and collaborative manner.
• Collaborate closely with the academic department at Aberdeen University and share experience and expertise with colleagues.

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (licence must be in place prior to starting).
• Evidence of higher specialist training such as FRCS Urology or equivalent, leading to CCT, or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview.
• For CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors: specialist registration must be awarded to be eligible for a substantive Consultant post; those not yet registered can apply for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive appointment is made.
• Doctors with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC must have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
