Urology Clinical Fellow; ST

Applications are invited for a one-year Clinical Fellow post in Urology (Level ST7+) based at the Department of Urology, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI), Scotland. The post will commence in August 2026 for 12 months from start date.

The post is suitable for candidates who have significant experience in Urology overseas or within the UK, and wish to progress their career further with a view to portfolio development, or overseas candidates who wish to expand their training and acquire experience of working in a high-volume tertiary referral unit in the UK.

The department of Urology within ARI is one of the most progressive in Scotland, being the first unit in Scotland to utilise robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgical facility for radical prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, and radical cystectomy and intra-corporeal ileal conduit urinary diversion. We were also one of the first units to offer MRI-fusion biopsy for prostate cancer detection and photodynamic diagnosis for bladder cancer.

The successful candidate would be able to obtain exposure and training to all these evolving technologies as well as more standard surgical procedures. The fellowship post will work with our existing Consultants specialising in the management and surgical treatment of urological cancer patients including exposure to outpatient and ambulatory management of patients and a full range of surgical interventions.

This post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training

Candidates must possess MBChB/MBBS and MRCS (or equivalent). However, as the post is not currently recognised for training, it is ideally suited for candidates who have already obtained FRCS Urology, FEBU or equivalent overseas qualifications. As such, specialist qualifications (e.g. FRCS Urology, FEBU or equivalent) are desirable.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
