Fixed Term Consultant in Paediatric Neurology
Fixed Term for 6 months
24 hours per week
A short/medium term opportunity has arisen to join the tertiary Paediatric Neurology service for children based at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH) for a period of 6 months.
Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital is part of the North of Scotland Child and Adolescent Neurology Network (NESCANN) which covers Grampian, Tayside, Highland and the northern isles of Shetland and Orkney.
This post holder will be based in Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and join one other Consultant Paediatric Neurologist, and will cover 1: 3 rota for daytime (9am-5pm) Neurology cover for the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for advice to general Paediatrics, Neonatal Unit and other specialties. There is also an out-of-hours commitment to provide Paediatric Neurology telephone advice across NESCANN health boards on a 1: 5 rota that is shared with Paediatric Neurologists based in Dundee.
The job plan currently consists of 6 programmed activities/ week. Responsibilities will include Neurology ward rounds, continuing care, Outpatient Clinics and clinical administration.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded. Those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
