Tutor - Agency Role Education Family Wellbeing Service

Location: London, Essex, and the South East

Reports to: Senior Leadership Team

Employment Type: Agency

About the Role

We're looking for dedicated tutors to join our Education Family Wellbeing Service (EFWS), working with children and young people who are Educated Other Than At School (EOTAS) or face Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges and Special Educational Needs (SEN).

You’ll make a real difference by raising engagement, achievement, and wellbeing among students who need additional support, working in EFWS provisions, community settings, and schools across the region.

What You’ll Do Teaching & Learning
  • Deliver engaging education to students with SEMH and SEN in various settings
  • Plan, prepare, and teach across the curriculum using both traditional and online resources
  • Adapt your approach to meet individual learning needs within our extended curriculum
  • Support students through internal and external examinations
Student Support & Progress
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback
  • Compile reports for parents/carers and other agencies
  • Register attendance and maintain safe, encouraging learning environments
  • Celebrate student achievements and promote high expectations
Collaboration
  • Work closely with parents/carers, schools, health professionals, and social care providers
  • Participate in professional development, meetings, and curriculum planning
  • Share best practices and innovative teaching methods
  • Support transitional programmes and school placements
What We’re Looking For Essential
  • Experience teaching secondary‑aged students
  • Experience working with students with SEN
  • Success in raising wellbeing and achievement in both formal and informal settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish high expectations and build student self‑esteem
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, attendance, and SEND legislation
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and anti‑discriminatory practice
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching primary‑aged students
  • Experience developing innovative learning experiences
  • Knowledge of the secondary curriculum
  • Experience engaging parents/carers as partners
  • Facilitation of student voice activities

Note:

QTS holders will undertake full teaching responsibilities in line with DfE Teachers’ Standards. Non‑QTS tutors will focus on tutoring and learning support roles.
