Job SummaryAre you a Registered Dietitian interested in supporting the next generation of dietitians? We are looking for a Lecturer to join our Master of Nutrition and Dietetics (MDiet) programme in a part‑time role (21 hours per week) within the School of Pharmacy, Applied Sciences and Public Health.
You will become part of a friendly and experienced group of academics who are committed to delivering high‑quality education and preparing students for contemporary dietetic practice. Whether you already have experience in higher education or are an experienced clinician interested in developing a career in academia, we would welcome your application.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver teaching, assessment and academic support across the nutrition and dietetics programme.
- Support practice‑based learning, including placements, simulation and campus‑based learning.
- Help shape and enhance the nutrition and dietetic curriculum, ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional body standards.
- Contribute to scholarship and research, with opportunities to develop academic and professional interests.
- Is an HCPC‑registered dietitian with relevant clinical experience.
- Has an interest in education and experience of supporting students on placement.
- Can build positive relationships with students, colleagues and practice partners.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuing professional development.
- Teaching experience is welcome but not essential. Support and development opportunities will be available for applicants who are new to higher education.

Grade 7 Salary Scale: £39,906 - £46,049
Grade 8 Salary Scale: £47,389 – £56,535
Salary on appointment will be dependent upon experience.
Candidates with limited or no prior experience as an academic will be placed on the first point of the Grade 7 scale. Consideration will be given to offering an Academic Attraction Payment (adjusted annually) for those candidates who have specific industry knowledge, skills or expertise which are required for the position.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal Lecturer in Dietetics and Public Health
RESPONSIBLE FOR: No Supervisory responsibility
PURPOSE OF POST: To contribute to the development, delivery and coordination of a portfolio of sustainable learning and education development activities and learning experiences for students.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Carries out designated teaching and assessment duties as required to the School portfolio of courses or as otherwise requested by the Dean of School.
- Participates in the development and preparation of teaching material.
- Provides tutorial and academic guidance for students.
- Supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
- Develops and maintains expertise in subject area.
- Actively pursues and/or encourages research activities (e.g. writing for publication, developing own research, supervising research students, establishing externally funded research projects, presenting at conferences etc).
- Supervises students on clinical placement.
- Undertakes appropriate administrative responsibilities as required.
- Promotes and markets the School and its courses to local, national and international clientele (including student recruitment).
- Maintains working relationships with other Schools/Departments/Units within the University, as necessary, for the smooth operation and continued development of the School and its courses.
- Actively participates in and suggests relevant staff development activities.
- Engages with other staff, wherever possible, in consultancy activities relevant to the School.
- Establishes and maintains relevant professional and industrial links, as necessary, for the effective operation of the School’s course (e.g. engagement in work of external bodies, educational and professional).
- Represents the School on relevant University committees and the School and University on external committees.
- Carries out such other related duties as may be required.
Salary: £39,906 - £56,535 per year (pro‑rata)
