BENTEC Graduate Mechanical / Piping Engineer About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our Aberdeen team and build a career within a globally recognised engineering and technology organisation. This role offers genuine early‑career responsibility, structured development, and the chance to contribute to meaningful energy-sector projects from day one.
At BENTEC, you’ll be supported by experienced engineers across conceptual studies, FEED, detailed design, and project execution. You’ll gain exposure to major North Sea and international projects while learning within a business with over 45 years of rig‑design and lifecycle engineering capability.
Why Join BENTEC?- Career development that matters — our graduate programme is aligned with IMechE accreditation and provides a clear pathway toward Chartership with support from Chartered Engineers.
- Inclusive and supportive culture — we value diversity and are committed to building an environment where everyone can thrive. Reasonable adjustments are always available.
- A global community — collaborate with a network of specialists across the UK, Norway, Germany, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, all part of the wider H&P Group.
- Competitive package — market‑rate salary, contributory pension, benefits, and opportunities for long‑term progression in both hydrocarbons and clean‑energy sectors.
As a Graduate Engineer, you will contribute to engineering delivery while building your capability through structured learning and mentorship. You will:
- Assist in developing cost‑effective, safe engineering solutions under supervision.
- Support the preparation of engineering documentation, including calculations, reports, and specifications.
- Help create and review 3D models and drawings.
- Work collaboratively with designers and engineers across multiple disciplines to ensure technical integrity.
- Identify potential scope changes and raise them early with senior engineers.
- Participate in rig‑engineering, renewables, and lifecycle‑support activities as your capability grows.
We’re looking for motivated early‑career engineers who are enthusiastic about continuous learning and professional development. Ideally you will have:
- An MEng or accredited BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering (2:1 preferred; strong 2:2 considered where supported by relevant experience or placements).
- Understanding of core engineering principles (statics, dynamics, materials, thermodynamics, heat transfer).
- Some experience with 3D modelling or CAD tools.
- Practical exposure through projects, clubs, or placements.
- Knowledge of Microsoft tools.
- Awareness of engineering safety, standards, sustainability, and professional ethics.
- Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and motivation to work toward Chartership.
Our straightforward process allows you to upload your CV or provide a link to your professional profile.
Shortlisted candidates are contacted promptly — the role will remain open until filled.
