Position: Design Engineer(s) & Designer(s) [Staff]
Location: Aberdeen City

Due to continued growth, we are looking to strengthen our design and engineering capability and are seeking experienced Design Engineer(s) & Designer(s) for an onsite position at our offices in Aberdeen.

Enovateq offers a collaborative engineering environment where practical problem-solving, quality design, and technical accountability are valued. This role provides involvement across the full product lifecycle — from initial concept development through to product delivery.

DESIGNER

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop concept, proposal & layout models and visualisations for client review
  • Produce detailed 3D models and fully toleranced manufacturing drawings
  • Ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and optimised
  • Support product development across existing and future product lines
  • Participate in project and design review meetings
  • Interface with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated, clash-free designs
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role or equivalent experience. Consideration will be made for those who can demonstrate proficiency without formal qualifications (e.g. self-taught abilities).
  • Extensive experience and a proven track record in CAD and design within an engineering environment
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Solidworks (experience with alternative 3D CAD software will also be considered)
  • Ability to produce innovative design packages to meet project requirements, from concept to detailed design
  • Good understanding of mechanical design principles
  • Proactive, detail-oriented approach

Development & Progression

Enovateq actively supports technical development. Designers who wish to broaden their scope will have the opportunity to gain exposure to engineering tasks and develop their calculation and validation capability.

DESIGN ENGINEER

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop concept, proposal & layout models and visualisations for client review
  • Produce detailed 3D models and fully toleranced manufacturing drawings
  • Ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and optimised
  • Support product development across existing and future product lines
  • Present designs and participate in internal and external design reviews and project meetings
  • Interface with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated, clash‑free designs
  • Validate designs using classical engineering analysis techniques, including bending, buckling, shear, bearing, and pressure vessel calculations.
  • Develop equipment assembly, test, FAT, handling, storage, rework, maintenance and commissioning procedures
  • Recommend and make engineering changes to product drawings, procedures, and documentation.
  • Contribute to project planning and execution including design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Ensure accurate recording of work time and tasks to allow effective tracking of schedule and expenditure.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role or equivalent experience. Consideration will be made for those who can demonstrate proficiency without formal qualifications (e.g. self-taught abilities).
  • Extensive experience and a proven track record in CAD and design within an engineering environment
  • Competent in 3D modelling and drawing production
  • Ability to produce innovative design packages to meet project requirements, from concept to detailed design
  • Good understanding of mechanical design principles
  • Proactive, detail-oriented approach
  • FEA experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Senior-level candidates are encouraged to apply
