Elevation Recruitment Group are working with an established engineering business looking to strengthen their design capability with the appointment of a Mechanical Design Engineer. This role sits within a close–knit engineering team and will see you involved in detailed mechanical design work, design reviews and technical support across projects, delivered to agreed scope, cost and timescales.
Experience with in power generation or a similar heavy engineering environment would be a strong advantage, but solid transferable design experience is equally important.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed 3D models and fully detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawings
- Deliver design outputs in line with contract requirements, quality standards and schedules
- Manage your own workload across multiple projects in a fast–paced environment
- Plan, monitor and report on design activities and deliverables
- Provide regular updates to internal and external stakeholders
- Support cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
- Work primarily in Solid Works, producing parts, assemblies and BOMs
- Liaise with suppliers, fabricators and contractors to ensure design intent and manufacturing quality
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and site activities when required
- Contribute to standardisation and ongoing improvement of design processes and templates
- Maintain accurate design records and support document control and version management
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and quality procedures
- Previous experience within mechanical engineering, fabrication, power generation, energy, acoustic enclosures or similar industries
- Strong sheet metal and/or structural design experience
- Comfortable managing multiple design tasks to tight deadlines
- Proven experience producing bills of materials
- Familiar with working to defined quality systems and procedures
- Apprenticeship trained or qualified to HNC level (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering discipline
- Confident using 3D CAD software – Solid Works preferred, with AutoCAD experience beneficial
- 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm, Friday: 7:30am – 1:00pm
