Environmental & Sustainability Advisor - Part-time, 22.5 hours

Ponticelli UK Ltd are looking for a Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to join our team on permanent part-time 22.5 hours per week basis. This role is responsible for providing expertise and leadership in environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives, ensuring the company meets regulatory requirements, reduces environmental impact, and achieves sustainability objectives, focusing on promoting best practices, supporting operational teams, and driving continuous improvement in environmental performance across the business.

• Monitor and ensure compliance with UK environmental legislation, oil and gas industry standards, and company policies to minimise environmental risks.
• Create, implement, and maintain environmental and sustainability policies and procedures in line with regulatory and business needs.
• Provide guidance to project teams and operational staff on environmental matters, ensuring alignment with sustainability objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Perform regular environmental audits and site inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
• Collect, analyse, and report on environmental data, including emissions, waste management, and resource usage, ensuring accurate submissions to regulatory authorities.
• Identify and lead sustainability projects, focusing on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and the adoption of renewable energy technologies.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and community stakeholders to ensure positive relationships and effective communication on environmental issues.
• Develop and deliver environmental training programs to employees, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the organisation.
• Provide expertise during environmental incidents, including spill response and remediation efforts, ensuring timely resolution and regulatory reporting.
• Monitor emerging trends and technologies in environmental management and sustainability, recommending innovations to enhance the company’s performance

Qualifications/Experience required:

• Essential:
  Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
• Essential:
  Professional accreditation or working towards it (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM).
• Essential: ISO
  14001 Auditor.
• Desirable:
  Experience with regulatory reporting to UK environmental agencies.
• Desirable: NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate or equivalent.
• Desirable: BOSIET/FOET and associated mandatory certification
• Essential:
  Experience in an Environmental role, ideally within the Energy sector
• Essential:
  Proven track record of implementing sustainability initiatives and achieving measurable outcomes.
• Essential:
  Familiarity with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) & Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).
• Essential:
  Thorough understanding of UK environmental legislation and oil and gas industry standards.
• Essential:
  Knowledge of environmental impact assessment (EIA) processes and mitigation strategies.
• Desirable:
  Awareness of carbon management strategies and renewable energy integration
• Essential:
  Highly effective communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Essential:
  Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
• Essential:
  Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in reporting and auditing.
• Desirable:
