Sinomine Specialty Fluids, headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, is a global leader in cesium/potassium formate brine and formulated fluids for drilling, completion, and intervention operations. As part of Sinomine (Hong Kong) Rare Metals Resources Co. Ltd., the company operates worldwide with strategically located sales offices and stock points. Its team includes some of the most experienced formate fluid specialists, focused on delivering “performance through simplicity” using highly efficient, multi-functional fluids.

Sinomine Specialty Fluids owns and operates the Tanco mine in Manitoba, Canada, securing long‑term access to pollucite ore, the primary source of cesium formate. Through a leasing and stewardship model, the company minimizes fluid losses, conserves global cesium resources, and ensures cost‑effective reuse for customers.

Role Description

You will be part of a top performing global pool of Formate Fluid Specialists and may be deployed anywhere in the world to support the successful and safe delivery and/or backloading of our chemicals, equipment or whole mud/brine systems. You will provide support to our customers in the use of our fluids and measure and maintain fluid properties to program specification.

In addition, you will monitor the chemical inventory offshore and maintain an adequate stock level within agreed maximum/minimum levels and ensure that product is stored in a safe manner, with full environmental compliance. You will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of the fluid, collecting all required data for the production of end of well reports in the required format and reporting of data for analysis and review.

Qualifications

and Experience
  • Strong technical foundation in chemistry, chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, or a related discipline, ideally with experience in drilling, completion, or reservoir fluids.
  • Practical skills in laboratory work, including fluid testing, data recording, quality control, and interpretation of results for operational decision-making.
  • Strong demonstrable background of mud engineering, with HPHT Drilling and Completion Brine exposure essential.
  • Commitment to health, safety, environmental, and sustainability standards, including safe handling of chemicals and adherence to company and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and engage with customers in a clear, professional manner.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot fluid‑related issues under time constraints and propose practical solutions.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and willingness to learn specialized laboratory or engineering software as required.
  • Whilst not essential, deepwater and international experience is advantageous.
