For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office—Aberdeen or Inverness.
Salary£51,600 - £77,400 + car allowance + performance‑related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The RoleJoin SSEN Transmission at a pivotal time as we deliver some of the UK’s most ambitious offshore and marine infrastructure projects, supporting the transition to net zero and helping to build a stronger electricity transmission network for the future.
As Marine Safety Advisor, you’ll be part of the SSEN Transmission Safety, Health and Wellbeing team, providing specialist marine safety advice and practical support across our offshore and marine works. You’ll play an important role in helping project teams and contract partners plan and deliver work safely, effectively and in line with our Safety Management System.
This is a visible and influential role, supporting vessel mobilisation, offshore construction activity and continuous improvement across the marine safety function. You’ll work closely with project, marine, operational and contractor teams, providing credible advice, constructive challenge and hands‑on support where it matters most.
You Will- Provide practical marine safety advice and support to project and marine teams, helping them implement the Safety Management System effectively.
- Engage positively with contract partners, both remotely and on worksites, to monitor safety performance, support compliance and help deliver safe, successful projects.
- Develop and review SSEN Transmission and contract partner documentation to support safe vessel mobilisation, offshore operations and ongoing performance.
- Attend and actively contribute to risk reviews, such as HAZIDs and HIRAs, providing marine safety expertise to help eliminate or reduce risk.
- Support audits, inspections and investigations, ensure incidents and findings are reviewed, recorded, communicated and closed out at the right level.
The role will be predominantly office based, with regular short‑duration travel to ports, vessels, project sites and offshore worksites. Some travel may be required at short notice to support project activity.
You Have- Experience in offshore construction, marine operations, or a similar environment, with a strong understanding of the safety requirements, regulations and risks associated with activities such as cable installation, diving and trenching operations.
- The ability to build effective relationships across project, marine and contractor teams, providing clear and pragmatic safety advice, influencing decisions and constructively challenging where appropriate to support a strong safety culture.
- A NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) in occupational health and safety, or demonstrable equivalent experience, together with knowledge of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment and their application within offshore environments.
- A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel as required. Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET), or an equivalent qualification, and a current offshore medical certificate would be advantageous.
