Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Planning Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of major decommissioning projects. This role offers flexibility, with options for PAYE, Ltd Company contract, or permanent employment, and provides long-term work opportunities. As a Planning Engineer, you will collaborate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and subcontractor teams to develop, manage, and optimise project schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
Your expertise will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with key milestones and client requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and optimise detailed project schedules using Primavera P6
- Monitor project progress, analysing performance against established baselines and milestones
- Identify schedule risks, delays, and critical path activities, recommending mitigation measures where appropriate
- Conduct critical path analysis and assess the impact of changes on project delivery
- Develop recovery plans and alternative scheduling solutions to minimise project delays
- Produce accurate progress reports, schedule updates, and forecasts for project stakeholders
- Collaborate with Project Managers and functional teams to ensure alignment between project activities and delivery objectives
- Support resource planning and scheduling activities
- Participate in project reviews, planning meetings, and client progress meetings as required
- Maintain and update planning documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Project Planning, Planning Engineer, or Project Controls role. Proven track record in supporting the successful delivery of complex engineering, offshore, energy, or decommissioning projects. Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6. Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling methodologies, and planning best practices. Experience conducting critical path analysis and schedule risk assessments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams. Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to project delivery. Educational
Qualifications:
Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline. Primavera P6 certification is advantageous. Relevant project management or project controls qualifications are desirable.
