Subsea Support Engineer

Aberdeen (Office‑Based) | Permanent

We are working with a leading international offshore drilling contractor to support the hire of a Subsea Support Engineer to join their onshore engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a hands‑on mechanical background looking to transition into an office‑based engineering role, with a clear pathway for progression into a fully‑fledged Subsea Engineer position.

Role

This position sits within a specialist subsea engineering team, supporting offshore operations and subsea equipment across a global fleet. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between workshop/field experience and engineering, gaining exposure to subsea systems, offshore operations, and project‑based work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for subsea equipment and pressure control systems
  • Assist with maintenance planning, fault finding, and troubleshooting activities
  • Support offshore operations from an onshore engineering environment
  • Contribute to equipment overhaul planning, asset management, and documentation
  • Assist with subsea‑related projects, upgrades, and engineering modifications
  • Liaise with internal teams, OEMs, and offshore personnel to resolve technical issues
  • Work closely with senior engineers and technical specialists on day‑to‑day operations
Candidate Profile
  • Completed a Mechanical Apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent qualification
  • Background in workshop, maintenance, or hands‑on engineering environments
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of equipment, assemblies, and maintenance processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
  • Keen to move into an office‑based engineering role
  • Motivated to develop problem‑solving, reporting, and engineering skills
  • Interest in further education (HND / Degree level) is advantageous
