Location: Aberdeen City

Our Client, an Oil and Gas Company is seeking a Wells Lead to join their Technical Services Team in Aberdeen. This will be an office based role with a hybrid working arrangement of 4 days in Office and 1 day s is a contract role on a PAYE basis, for 12 months.

Responsible for all well drilling & completion engineering, design, operations and technical integrity aspects of the Client’s carbon storage projects, to help achieve the strategic objective of commercialising carbon storage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficient and effective multidiscipline team leadership to deliver all wells aspects of the MNZ carbon storage project(s).
  • Deliver exemplary HSE performance across all well related activities.
  • Oversee planning, design (FEED), and execution of all well activities.
  • Own legacy wells risk assessments and mitigations plans.
  • Responsible for well delivery and operational planning.
  • Manage wells budgets, forecasts, and cost performance.
  • Deliver wells related work programme commitments to help ensure that the company meets its NSTA carbon storage license commitments and deadlines, whilst remaining aligned with the priorities and constraints of the business.
  • Deliver all necessary wells work to successfully secure a carbon storage permit aligned with the requirements of the MNZ project portfolio.
  • Ensure high levels of technical competence across the wells team and that wells work is executed to high quality.
  • Manage the interface with supply chain partners including contracting and procurement strategies to secure best-in-class suppliers and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain a proactive and trusted relationship with the NSTA.
  • Ensure high quality reporting and knowledge retention within the business as the MNZ projects(s) progress through different phases.
  • Coordinate wells technical peer review, audit, due-diligence, and assurance activities including those mandated by NSTA and DESNZ.
  • Maintain technical alignment with subsurface, above ground and commercial aspects of the proposed development.
  • Promote Company with stakeholders, including at conferences/events, to build awareness and confidence in technical competence of the business.
  • Any other associated duties as reasonably required.
Competence &

Qualifications:
  • Breadth of understanding of wells disciplines including well engineering, well operations, drilling, and well integrity.
  • Deep wells technical subject matter expertise in carbon storage. A recognised and trusted industry expert.
  • Expert level understanding of the UK carbon storage regulatory regime. Significant capabilities in leading people.
  • Educated to degree level, ideally MSc or MEng in a relevant discipline such as Engineering or Earth Science
