Senior Verification Engineer

• Conduct onshore and offshore assessments of safety-critical equipment, systems, and documentation on energy installations
• Provide regulatory guidance and verification services across oil & gas and renewable energy sectors
• Act as ABS's professional specialist for verification activities
• Perform routine verification examinations on units for which ABS is the Independent Verification Body
• Prepare technically accurate and timely examination reports
• Engage with clients to resolve problems and assist with developing and maintaining verification documentation
• Maintain orderly and up-to-date verification files within the area of responsibility

• HNC, HND, degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent recognized experience
• Membership of a recognized Professional Institution or Engineering Council preferred
• Demonstrable experience in a similar position or verification-type role advantageous
• English proficiency commensurate with statutory certification and services and future work assignments
• BOSIET, MIST, and ATEX qualifications preferable
• Understanding of Offshore Installations (Offshore Safety Directive) Regulations, 2013/30/EU Offshore Safety Directive, and associated legislation
• Knowledge of goal-setting legislative regimes, major hazard management, and risk assessment techniques
• Understanding of unit-specific major accident hazards, safety and environmental critical element performance standards, and verification activities
• Understanding of plant isolatable inventories, incident escalation pathways, and prevention, control, and mitigation barriers
• Awareness of process safety and integrity management principles, engineering standards, and specifications
• Relevant plant knowledge and understanding of operational status and plant conditions
• Ability to apply Operational Risk Assessments (ORA) processes and methodology
• Understanding of SECE impairment rule sets
• Understanding of site emergency response plans and procedures
• Ability to develop working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, related instructions, and ABS Employee Safety Policy
• Ability to read engineering plans and basic understanding of oil and gas practices and installation operations
• Ability to perform examinations in the prescribed format
• Ability to develop working knowledge of relevant computer programs or software packages
• Knowledge of installation systems and machinery
• Ability to communicate pertinent technical information orally and in writing
• Ability to analyze problems and propose solutions
• Responsiveness to customers
• Ability to work well with others

Demonstrates expertise in conducting safety assessments and verification activities within the oil & gas and renewable energy sectors, with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management principles. Proficient in preparing technical reports and engaging with clients to resolve issues related to safety-critical equipment and systems.
