Power Transmission and Distribution team as a Site Based
Construction Manager within our
Operational Team
. You will deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you. You will be working on our projects in the Aberdeen area
As a
Construction Manager you'll:
- Support the Project Managers in their responsibility for overall profit and loss of a standard or major project whilst ensuring the highest standards of safety, sustainability, environmental and quality are implemented
- Promote a collaborative working environment which ensures client, internal and other stakeholders’ requirements are effectively managed, and employees feel motivated and engaged to deliver
- Manage Site Engineers / Project Engineers to ensure that all work undertaken satisfies all required safety and technical policies and procedures
- Plan the work and oversee the requirements for necessary materials, plant and equipment
- Oversee the requirements for resource and then manage staff for the project
- Manage the construction site(s) on a day-to-day basis, including supervising the labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work and overseeing quality control
- Ensure that all work is carried out according to required standards and be responsible for effective liaison and collaboration with Highways Authorities, Local Authorities and other Utilities providers etc.
- Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress
- Check design documents
- Responsible for a working environment which ensures the achievement of all safety and environmental legislation, engineering and customer standards.
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery
- Experience working in a similar role
- Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts
- Proficient in commercial/project management communications
- Experience in implementing safe systems of work
- Experience in improving current safety systems in support of our safety initiatives - making safety personal
- Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
- Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams.
- Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required
- Commercially astute
- Full clean UK driving licence
- Degree Qualified in Electrical/Civil Engineering Discipline
-desirable - Qualification in APM –desirable
