Position: Principal / Senior Piping Designer (6 months Fixed Term Contract)
Location: Aberdeen City

Responsibilities Functions

Key Responsibilities and Competencies required for the role include but are not limited to as outlined below, the Senior / Principal Piping Designer will be required to fulfil other duties as required to meet the needs of GDi, and any other company within GDi's portfolio:

  • Provide technical expertise Resolve technical queries and ensure Satisfactory
  • Proficient in preparing and checking design deliverables within the budget hours/Norms and schedule
  • Competent in completing site surveys and interpret survey data/document in completion of design deliverables
  • Provide input to project planning as part of the team for achieving the target and completion within the budget and schedule; ensuring that all design work is carried out in accordance with priorities
    and schedules
  • Plan, budget and coordinate resources, contribute to the development of plans, schedules and estimates for the individual work scopes.
  • Skilled at preparing design scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates where necessary.
  • Reporting on job progress as well as reviewing progress and cost reports regarding design activities.
  • Comply with relevant codes of conduct
  • Ensure that all work complies with the Company and Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and
    Quality policies and procedures as appropriate
  • Report any incidents/near misses, hazards, unsafe acts/conditions, or positive behaviour to a responsible person immediately, and participate in incident investigations where required
  • Actively participate in HSE meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, HSE audits, and other relevant meetings where required
  • Perform work responsibly, taking account of environmental, social and economic requirements
Essential Knowledge & Competencies
  • Proficient and Knowledgeable of regulatory framework and legislation
  • Compliance with company engineering procedures, industry, international and where appliable client codes and standards. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Autodesk Re Cap
  • Ability to understand client requirements, proficient in scope definition through Concept/FEED/Detailed Design and support fabrication and construction
  • Competent in respect of constructability to support fabrication and construction
  • Foster positive and effective working relationships with Clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Proficient in various applicable design software systems and
    Microsoft packages
  • Good interpersonal skills - Ability to work as part of a multi- disciplinary team
  • Sound time and resource management skills
  • Cognisant of business requirements and needs and adaptable to changing environment and business requirements
  • Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations
  • Able to travel in UK and abroad, as well as offshore
Qualifications
  • HNC in a relevant discipline
