Summary – basic function of the role

We are looking for a Global Technical Authority to join our team and provide technical leadership, governance and engineering assurance across Hydratight Service operations within ETG.As the highest level of technical authority within the organisation, you will be responsible for maintaining global engineering standards, procedures, competency frameworks and execution methodologies. You will play a key role in ensuring services are delivered safely, consistently and in line with company standards while supporting complex customer projects, operational excellence and business growth.

Working closely with engineering, operations, commercial and leadership teams across multiple regions, you will help drive technical excellence, continuous improvement and innovation throughout the business.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Technical Governance & Assurance:

Own and maintain global engineering procedures, technical specifications, standards and work instructions.

Review, approve and continuously improve engineering methodologies, technical documentation and related standards.

Ensure consistent technical practices across all operating regions.

Provide oversight of engineering calculations, design assumptions and execution methodologies.

Act as the final technical approval authority for high-risk, complex or non-standard applications.

Engineering Support:

Provide expert technical guidance to engineering, operations, project and commercial teams globally

Review complex applications and recommend safe, practical and effective technical solutions.

Support critical projects, shutdowns and turnaround activities when required.

Participate in customer technical reviews, engineering workshops and project planning activities.

Subject Matter Leadership:

Maintain technical expertise across a range of specialist service areas, including:

Bolted Joint Integrity Hydraulic Torque & Tensioning Hot Bolting Joint Integrity Management In-Situ Machining Leak Sealing Hot Tapping & Line Stopping Pipe Freezing Composite Repair Systems Valve Intervention Technologies Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical enquiries across the business.

Competency & Training:

Define and maintain technical competency requirements for Technical Support, Subject Matter Expert and Technical Authority positions.

Support the assessment, development and mentoring of engineering personnel.

Review and improve training programmes and qualification standards.

Participate in the recruitment and technical assessment of engineering candidates.
