Sistema Scotland’s vision is to improve lives and strengthen communities. Working with children, young people and their families, we focus on early intervention and stimulating generational social change. By playing music together in ensembles and orchestras, we aim to grow confidence, respect, teamwork and aspiration in the children, young people and communities we work with.
We deliver our work through six Big Noise programmes:
Torry in Aberdeen, Raploch & Fallin in Stirling, Govanhill in Glasgow, Douglas in Dundee and Wester Hailes in Edinburgh.
We are looking for one or two temporary Support Musicians (Instrumental – Upper Strings, Lower Strings, Brass or Percussion – or General Musicianship) to work within the Torry community of Aberdeen. The role requires 8 to 26 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, term time only for 40 weeks of the year until 2nd July 2027. General musicianship signifies the development of overall musical understanding and skills in our learners, including voice, movement and instruments to support aural and reading skills, using approaches such as Kodaly methodology and Orff Shulwerk.
These are developmental/training roles designed to build experience and skills while supporting the Big Noise team to deliver the Big Noise programme in the Torry community. You will work closely with Big Noise Musicians and Support Workers, who provide teaching and support opportunities, constructive feedback and guidance on all elements of Big Noise. Support Musicians are also offered training opportunities on topics such as positive behaviour, lesson planning and various methodologies, including the Big Noise curriculum.
Qualifications- Ability to describe how you will benefit from this developmental/training role.
