Aurora Energy Services is a dynamic and growing business with a c £12m business line (Fabrication), delivering high-quality fabrication solutions and services to a diverse range of clients. As part of our strategic growth plans, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Manager to join our finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving business performance, providing insightful financial analysis and supporting strategic decision-making.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis.
- Provide variance analysis and commentary, highlighting key business performance drivers.
- Develop and maintain robust financial models to support forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, providing clear insights and recommendations.
- Lead the annual budgeting process for the business line, working closely with departmental heads.
- Develop and refine financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Monitor and report on actual performance versus budget and forecast, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Analyse costs, margins, and profitability at a detailed level.
- Identify areas for cost reduction and operational efficiency improvements.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure business performance.
- Act as a key business partner to operational and commercial teams, providing financial insight to support decision-making.
- Support contract reviews, pricing decisions, and strategic initiatives with financial analysis.
- Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and external stakeholders as needed.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of accounts and timely reporting of financial results.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 5 years of post‑qualification experience.
- Proven experience in a management accounting role within a business of similar scale (£10m+).
- Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders.
- Commercially minded with the ability to understand and support business strategy.
- Experience working within the energy sector.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Net Suite (advantageous).
- Track record of driving cost‑saving initiatives and improving financial performance.
