Finance Team Lead, Business Control (Aberdeen, Hybrid)

We are looking for a hands‑on commercial finance professional to support our Energy Transition Europe division. This role combines FP&A, business partnering and team leadership
. You will work closely with the Director Energy Transition Europe, providing financial insight and constructive challenge to support business decisions, while remaining actively involved in budgeting, rolling forecasting, performance analysis and business reviews. You will also lead and develop a small finance team of approximately three people
, making this a great opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to broaden their responsibilities and develop their leadership experience. You will report to the Director Divisional Control and work closely with colleagues across our international finance community.

No two days are exactly the same. This is a hands‑on role where you will stay close to both the business and the numbers.

A typical week may include:

• Working with the Director Energy Transition Europe and regional teams to understand business performance, risks and opportunities.
• Analysing financial and operational KPIs and translating these into clear, practical recommendations.
• Taking an active role in budgeting, rolling forecasting and monthly business reviews.
• Reviewing P&L performance and identifying the commercial drivers behind variances.
• Supporting business cases, scenario analysis and profitability assessments.
• Coaching and supporting a small finance team of approximately three people.
• Working with finance colleagues across Europe to improve reporting quality, controls and consistency.
• Partnering with commercial and operational stakeholders to support better decision‑making.
• Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and data analytics.

This could be a particularly good next step for an experienced Finance Business Partner, FP&A professional, Commercial Finance Manager or Business Controller who is ready to take on broader responsibility and further develop their people‑leadership experience.

You will enjoy being close to both the business and the numbers. While you will have responsibility for supporting and developing a small team, this is a hands‑on position where you will remain actively involved in analysis, forecasting and financial decision support.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Around 5–10 years’ experience across FP&A, business control, commercial finance or accounting.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis experience.
• The ability to translate financial information into meaningful commercial insight.
• Confidence working with and constructively challenging senior stakeholders.
• Some experience coaching, mentoring or leading others, or a clear readiness to take this next step.
• A proactive, hands‑on and solution‑focused approach.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with BI, reporting and financial systems.
• Solid accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
• Experience working within an international or multicultural environment.
• A relevant finance qualification, degree or equivalent professional experience.
