Assistant Accountant

We are delighted to be working with a well-established business looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team in Aberdeen. This is a varied, hands-on role offering the opportunity to support the day-to-day running of the finance function, covering purchase and sales ledger activities, payments, credit control and month-end reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Process purchase invoices accurately and promptly, ensuring correct coding.
• Set up new suppliers, bank details and direct debits within agreed timescales.
• Follow up outstanding supplier credit notes and resolve invoice queries.
• Prepare and process supplier payments in line with agreed schedules.
• Raise accurate sales invoices and manage customer billing.
• Respond to supplier queries promptly, working with colleagues to resolve issues where needed.
• Manage monthly direct debit customer collections and allocate incoming cash against outstanding items.
• Monitor aged debtors, follow up overdue balances and escalate issues where additional support is required.
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring deadlines are met and balance sheet reconciliations are completed.
• Run and maintain the necessary financial reports for month-end and year-end processes.

About You:

You’ll have experience in a similar role, with a good understanding of purchase and sales ledger processes, payments, credit control and month-end procedures. You’ll be organised, accurate and comfortable working to deadlines, with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to resolving queries.
