What is the job role?

As an Occupational Therapist in Adult Social Care, you’ll play a key role supporting adults across Coventry to maximise their independence and quality of life.

• Complete comprehensive functional assessments for adults with a wide range of disabilities.
• Design and deliver personalised therapeutic intervention programmes.
• Carry out environmental and ergonomic assessments.
• Assess cognitive and functional abilities related to daily living tasks.
• Undertake specialist manual handling risk assessments and provide expert advice.
• Recommend and arrange equipment and home adaptations.
• Train citizens, carers and staff in safe and effective use of equipment.
• Manage your own caseload, review progress and adjust goals as needed.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and departmental standards.
• Supervise therapy assistants and support colleagues across the service.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, NHS partners, care providers, GPs, housing services and voluntary organisations.
• Contribute to project work and service development initiatives.
• Work flexibly, including participation in a 7‑day rota and Bank Holidays.
• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities, equality and diversity principles, and data protection standards.

• HCPC registered with a Diploma or BSc in Occupational Therapy.
• Sound knowledge of adult conditions, rehabilitation principles, and multi‑pathology.
• Understanding of relevant legislation including the Care Act, manual handling regulations, and social care frameworks.
• Ability to work sensitively with individuals with physical, learning, or mental health disabilities.
• Confidence completing specialist assessments and developing tailored intervention plans.
• Capacity to work independently, manage your own caseload, and prioritise effectively.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to guide therapy assistants.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
• Post‑graduate education desirable but not essential.
