About the Service
The Neonatal Transport service forms part of the Specialist Transport and Retrieval Service for Scotland (ScotSTAR). ScotSTAR incorporates the Scottish Neonatal Transport Service, the Scottish Paediatric Retrieval Service, the Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (EMRS) and the Air Ambulance Service. It is managed by the Scottish Ambulance Service and undertakes approximately 3,000 transfers per year. Most transfers are conducted using dedicated road ambulances, with a small number by fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing aircraft provided by the Air Ambulance Service.
The teams consist of experienced transport nurses, ANNPs, transport fellows and consultant neonatologists, and incorporate advanced neonatal intensive care technology such as HFVO, NCPAP, high flow, inhaled nitric oxide, phototherapy and servo‑controlled systemic hypothermia during transfers.
The Neonatal Team is expanding its nursing workforce and seeks highly motivated individuals. The position is Band 6 and the post holder will provide high‑quality care to neonates and their families. This vacancy offers registered nurses (adult/child branch) the opportunity to work in a unique setting. Applicants should have extensive neonatal intensive care experience in a level 3 unit.
Team Location & ContactThe post will be based with the North ScotSTAR team at Aberdeen Airport and is offered on a fixed‑term or secondment basis. For informal enquiries, please contact Clare Hargan gant.
