Position: SP250850 - Pharmacy Technician
Location: Aberdeen City

Band 5 - 29 hours per week

Pharmacy Technician – RACH Dispensary

Aim:
To participate in the delivery of a patient-focused, pharmacy service for outpatients and inpatients, including ward based services and clinical trials, provided through the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH) pharmacy dispensary as part of acute pharmacy services within NHS Grampian.

Responsibilities
  • Manage dispensary workload and supervise and train dispensary support staff to provide an efficient, economic and safe dispensing service.
  • Participate in training and education of ward staff, implement new policies and procedures, and conduct service level audits.
  • Conduct clinical trial work, including setting-up of new trials, managing trial documentation and trial medication management, in line with principles of good clinical practice (GCP) and departmental standard operating procedures. Some of this work may be performed in the pharmacy clinical trials department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
  • Participate in the pharmacy department weekend and public holiday rota.
Qualifications
  • Qualified, General Pharmaceutical Council registered pharmacy technician with relevant and substantial post-qualification experience.
  • Accredited checking technician qualification is required; if not already held, must be undertaken.
