Experience:

- Perform safe and effective venepuncture and, where competent, cannulation in line with local protocols and infection prevention standards
- Prepare, label, and handle specimens accurately, ensuring compliance with pathology requirements and transport procedures
- Deliver care across clinic and domiciliary settings, maintaining patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality
- Maintain accurate clinical records using electronic systems in line with NHS data governance requirements
- Identify and elevate any clinical concerns, including difficult access, adverse reactions, or safeguarding issues
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent for HCA applicants
- Registered Nurse qualification (Adult) for nurse applicants
- Accredited training in phlebotomy is essential
- Cannulation competency is desirable or essential depending on role level
- NMC registration for nursing applicants
- Understanding of CQC standards and NHS clinical governance frameworks
- Knowledge of infection control standards, Health and Safety at Work Act, and data protection requirements GDPR
- Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities for adults
- Previous experience in phlebotomy services within NHS, primary care, or diagnostic settings
- Experience working in community or outreach healthcare environments
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in mobile or non-clinical settings
- Exposure to high-volume patient-facing roles with service delivery targets
