HIGHLY SPECIALIST PHYSIOTHERAPIST in CRITICAL CARE AND GENERAL SURGERY

Permanent part time 18 HRS

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to work in Scotland’s only VV ECMO centre providing specialist care to Scotland’s patient population requiring ECMO services. Our regional critical care services are currently being delivered in 2 critical care areas with a mix of level 2 and 3 patients. Currently there are approximately 40 mixed critical care beds and up to 6 ECMO beds.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to work alongside an established senior clinician sharing leadership of our dynamic ICU Physiotherapy Team, covering ICU, surgical HDU and ward patients from surgical areas including head and neck, and general surgical specialities. Suitable applicants will have previous Critical Care experience in level 2 and level 3 care.

This vacancy demands excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills. Your personal qualities should include excellent organisation skills together with a positive approach and the ability to work autonomously within a busy team.

Responsible for managing a complex clinical caseload from assessment to discharge or transfer of care, you will receive regular supervision and appraisal and will actively be involved in service development, audit, research and evidence based practice.

You will provide teaching and supervision for physiotherapists, physiotherapy students and members of the Multidisciplinary Team and participate in the training of staff working on call and weekends/bank holidays.

The set days for this post will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. However the post may contribute to five over seven working in the future as services develop.

The successful post holder will work on the oncall and weekend respiratory rotas.

The acute physiotherapy team work to support each other and the successful candidate will have to demonstrate an ability to be adaptable, supportive and willing to assist colleagues in other clinical areas.
