IMS Recruitment is recruiting A BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST / LABORATORY MEDICINE SCIENTIST for the pathology department of a hospital in Gibraltar.
The client is seeking candidates for commencement at the earliest possible opportunity, on a 6-month fixed term contract to perform analytical testing in Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Coagulation.

ResponsibilitiesPerform analytical testing in Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Coagulation.
Validate and authorize patient results in accordance with laboratory policies.
Perform blood grouping, antibody screening, cross matching, and issue of blood components.
Investigate abnormal results and liaise with clinicians where necessary.
Ensure compliance with quality management systems and accreditation standards.
Perform analyser calibration, troubleshooting, and advanced quality control procedures.
Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes.
Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to health and safety regulations.
Authorise complex transfusion decisions, including investigation of transfusion reactions and resolution of serological discrepancies.
Validate and authorise donor serology results, ensuring safe release of blood components in accordance with transfusion guidelines.
Daily monitoring of blood component inventory and monitor stock levels
Ensure full compliance with quality management systems, haemovigilance requirements, and accreditation standards.
Develop, review, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in line with best practice and regulatory guidance.
Previous experience in haematology and blood film morphology.
Experience of working with Sysmex XN1000/XN2000 desirable
Experience in coagulation
Previous recent experience working in blood transfusio n.
RequirementsApplicants must be registered with the UK’s HCPC
BSc or Higher Degree in Biomedical Science
At least 3 years’ experience in relevant specialism.
On OfferSalary of £31,897 to £37,845 per annum pro rata (depending on experience)
